Hello SLO PCC,
It has come to my attention that the PCC is working on renaming efforts for areas of town to share via the Visit SLO
website. I wanted to kindly request that the names "MoJo" and "LoBro" be reconsidered.
As part of iFixit's leadership team and DEI efforts, we work very hard to make tech inclusive. iFixit's mission is to teach
everyone to fix every thing. Being in the tech space, we work hard to break down barriers and be welcoming to
diverse groups. Our main office, located on Monterey street, and one of our warehouses, on Sacramento street, are in
the "MoJo" and "LoBro" areas. These names suggest sexual connotations and "dude bro" culture—which we actively try
to break down.
All of the other areas on the map, such as "Laguna" or "Railroad District" have reasonable, descriptive names. We would
like to ask that a similar name or a name without such connotations be considered.
iFixit is very active in the community and continues to support efforts for bettering SLO. We are proud of our community
and want its naming conventions to reflect the inclusive, community-minded Central Coast culture we work so hard to
build and sustain.
Thank you for your consideration,
Brittany McCrigler
