To whom it may concern,
I take no issue with the name LoBro or Lower Broad, and I also support those who have an issue with the name LoBro.
Currently though, when the name has been established for at least 4 years (or more) and money, time, and effort has
been spent on content creation and advertising it seems too late to throw that investment away. Small business is
hurting, and if the city is offering marketing dollars to help push our neighborhood, I do not want to stop that effort
while it is gaining momentum.
This is an opportunity for the community to embrace both the name of our neighborhood and be inclusive at the same
time, which I think it is. If everyone needed to be happy with every civic decision, we would never get anywhere as a
city. If we are truly going to vote on a name, then every person in the neighborhood should have the opportunity to
vote⦠not just those on an email list. The name represents lower broad. It does not need to get any more complicated in
my opinion. Are we going to change the name of Broad street?
Maybe there is a way to make LoBro even more inclusive than it already is by doing events around Pride, a LoBro Pride
logo, or any and all other actions to actually be inclusive.
