Re: City Council Mee?ng on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 Agenda Item 4.a.
Dear City Council,
My name is Richard A. Simmons and I live in San Luis Obispo and patronize downtown bushinesses weekly. I am sharing
my support, in line with Downtown SLO’s Board of Directors, for Op?on B of the Parking Rate Study recommenda?ons
presented by Dixon Unlimited. This op?on offers the most affordable parking rates downtown, addressing the primary
concern expressed by respondents in the Parking Rate Study.
Furthermore, I am in support of this posi?on because a?er numerous conversa?ons with downtown business owners &
managers, I have come to believe that downtown businesses are financially suffering due to the increased costs of
parking. Furthermore, I understand that the council previously voted, “make parking pay for itself” but have come to the
conclusion that the suffering of local businesses is too extreme to follow this ideal. I strongly urge the council to reduce
rates to preserve our downtown.
Sincerely,
Richard A Simmons
SLO Resident
