Agenda Item 4.a.
Dear City Council,
My name is Wendy Brown, and I'm a resident who shops and eats in downtown San Luis Obispo. Yes, this is a cut and
paste letter, but I agree with the recommendations. I'm elderly (81) and the confusion and varying experiences in the
various parking areas have prevented me from engaging in Downtown SLO as I did previously. I am sharing my support,
in line with Downtown SLO’s Board of Directors, for Option B of the Parking Rate Study recommendations presented by
Dixon Unlimited. This option offers the most affordable parking rates downtown, addressing the primary concern
expressed by respondents in the Parking Rate Study.
I would also like to add their additional recommendations: In addition to the above changes, Downtown SLO would like
to see:
Reduction to only one mobile parking app across all of downtown to simplify the user experience.
Expanding on-street parking time limits from 2 to 3 hours.
Reduce structure permit rates to $45/month and maintain 10-hour on street permit rates at $60/month, while
making more permits available for purchase and renewal online.
Revert back to the “play then pay” model in all structures, while implementing new gated technology that is
more efficient and consistent among all structures
Thank you for your service to the community.
Sincerely,
Wendy Brown
