City Council Members,
I have followed the discussions on Parking Fees held on-line and by searches of the City web site, but I have found no
analysis or presenta?on of the components that make up the forecasted expenses of the Parking Fund. All I could find is
a forecast of ~$10M in expenses for fiscal 2024-25 excluding con?ngency, with no suppor?ng data for this forecast.
Unless this forecast has been validated already, it seems to me cri?cal that it be examined because it drives parking fee
rates. An analysis of the components of the Parking Fund expenses may iden?fy addi?onal sources of revenue for the
Parking Fund, such as annual fees for large office buildings and hotels if they do not provide enough parking for their
employees and customers or if they drive the need for another parking structure. I am concerned that such large
enterprises will drive the smaller downtown businesses that provide the charm of downtown SLO out of business by
causing customers to avoid them due to parking costs.
Regards,
Roger Card
SLO resident (re?red with no downtown business interests)
