The confusion as I see it, has to do with different systems in different parking garages and locating and figuring out how to operate kiosks on the street, especially after dark. I find the current ways to pay for downtown parking awkward and unpleasant, especially for seniors who may not be used to using apps. Since I learned the Marsh Street parking garage has been operating on the old “drive in and pay upon leaving” system, I’ve been exclusively parking there when I go downtown. But honestly, I have been going downtown less often since the parking changes that have been made this past year. Thus, I’m glad that the parking situation in Downtown SLO is being reviewed and will possibly be modified. Of the options that are being discussed, I support Option B. Although, if I had my druthers, I’d want parking to be free after 5 or 6, as it used to be, so as not to have to fumble around in the dark to use the kiosks. I realize you are juggling the need to raise funding for the downtown arts district, which I whole heartedly support. But making people feel uncomfortable to go downtown—which is exactly what the new parking rules have done—is not a good solution for residents, tourists or businesses. Thank you for all the work you do for San Luis Obispo. Marta Peluso 557 Stoneridge Drive San Luis Obispo, CA. 93401 1
