It is a huge responsibility to do things that you feel improve our city while representing our merchants who give our city life. It is of no use at all to make “improvements” or changes that are not in their best interests. A city without a vital thriving downtown with pedestrians, bicycles, and automobiles is not going to be what anyone wants nor is it economically feasible to sustain. It is you who are crunching the numbers and determining what plan the city can afford. Plan B is definitely a step in the right direction. But perhaps other things can be considered along with it. You need to get this right because the several changes in a short period have not been helpful; in fact they are confusing and make people angry. People from outside town coming in to park stand bewildered at the kiosks trying to figure them out although I suppose time may remedy that. The rules in the parking garages are not always clear and each one is different, which makes it hard to deal with. My very first allegiance is with the merchants. They work very hard, pay very high rent, and struggle to keep open as you can see from the many who have closed in recent times. Hear them and hear your town and be open. Take your time and do the right thing. Marilyn Gordon 777 Lincoln St, San Luis Obispo, CA 93405 1
