Dear City Council,
Our names are Jenny Kompolt & Melissa James, and we are representing JunkGirls business in downtown San Luis
Obispo. We are sharing our support, in line with Downtown SLO’s Board of Directors, for Option B of the Parking Rate
Study recommendations presented by Dixon Unlimited. This option offers the most affordable parking rates downtown,
addressing the primary concern expressed by respondents in the Parking Rate Study. In addition, we ask that you make
these changes as well as put together a PR campaign to drive locals and tourists back to Downtown SLO in no less than
the next 30-45 days.
We are struggling and cannot wait much longer for change. This has been going on for over 10 months and we have
been holding out for a solution. We are part of so many other important & loved businesses that make Downtown SLO
special and work very hard to support our community & neighbors, but, with a significant sales decrease, the high cost
of parking for ourselves and five employees, hearing the constant negative feedback from local and tourist customers
complaining about the archaic kiosk process and the expense, and so much more, if something isn’t done soon to
change the cost & ease of parking and drive more footfall and revenue to Downtown SLO, we will be forced to look into
relocating.
Thank you for listening.
Sincerely,
Jenny Kompolt & Melissa James
