Use caution when deciding to open attachments, click links, or respond. Dearest Members of SLO City Council, I am writing, yet again, to ask you to please lower the parking rates in downtown SLO. My husband and myself are full time residents of San Luis, and two of our four daughters graduated from Cal Poly. We have witnessed our small hamlet and those dedicated small business owners, disappearing before our eyes. When we chat with the owners and staff of all the businesses we frequent and support, it is agonizing listening to them and how the parking rates are killing their proven, decades long enterprises! I am in various social/civic groups and it is a serious topic of conversation, and without bias, the folks I talk with willingly admit they no longer frequent downtown because of the price to park. We plan to attend the city council meeting later today, and are voting to please adopt Option B, and hope you as a council that wants to see our town thrive, will vote to lower the parking rates in a way that will protect the downtown business owners and the businesses they have toiled to build and maintain. Afterall, they have paid rent and taxes for years to support the city, and as taxpayers in SLO we expect the city to stand by those small business owners so it truly can be a Win/Win. Sincerely Yours, Jim and Kathy Weiss 1
