I am also a former property owner and business owner downtown. I would like to urge you to support Option B as outlined in the Dixon report. While it would be my preference that the one hour of free parking could be retained, it is imperative that the parking rates be reduced to the lowest point possible in order to maintain and increase the vitality of the Downtown. Running a business is difficult enough right now without having to combat the perception that parking is an additional overpriced surcharge. I would also suggest that an educational program in conjunction with the Chamber and Downtown SLO for business owners and employees. In the past it seemed as our own worst enemies have been the very people that we work with downtown. Parking must be for our shoppers and guests. As part of that I would suggest an expansion of the monthly parking pass program. Offer discounts to lease holders who might buy passes for those who lease from them as part of the lease agreement. Or certainly a discount for business owners who buy them for their employees. Thanks for your time and efforts. Sent from my iPad, Alan Martin 1
