Dear City Council, My name is Barbara Rosenblatt and I am a 30 year resident of this community. In support of all our businesses downtown and in line with Downtown SLO’s Board of Directors, we strongly encourage you to implement Option B of the Parking Rate Study recommendations presented by Dixon Unlimited. This option offers the most affordable parking rates downtown, addressing the primary concern expressed by respondents in the Parking Rate Study. This support comes with a couple caveats - it is also vitally important that parking is free after 6 p.m. The current system is hurting our restaurants and entertainment venues. It is also important that there be some options for free short-term parking (maybe 15 minutes) so visitors can pickup a cup of coffee, a yogurt, an ice cream, an online order, a smoothie without having to pay to park. I am in favor of this option because we need all our downtown businesses to thrive. Currently, downtown parking is substantially higher than other cities of many sizes throughout the Central Coast and California. I know we are not visiting downtown nearly as often as we used to because of the cost and complexities of parking. May it easy - make it reasonable - and we will come back!!! Thank you for your consideration, Barbara Rosenblatt 1
