Re: City Council Mee?ng on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 Agenda Item 4.a.
Dear City Council,
As a property owner of two businesses within the downtown area I am concerned as to the number of monthly parking
permits that are issued to MCP students. Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 3pm they monopolize Lot 9, the public
lot on the corner of Monterey & Broad Streets and the 600 block of Palm.
These lots and the metered 10 hour spaces on Palm are some of the closest parking available to the downtown core and
prevent those wishing to shop or dine downtown during peak hours 5 days a week.
We’re all making sacrifices while we navigate through the construc?on of the Cultural Arts Parking Structure with the
loss of parking. Seems unfair that these prime parking spaces are not available during the week to poten?al patrons to
our downtown businesses.
Sincerely,
Leslie Menges
