Use caution when deciding to open attachments, click links, or respond. Dear City Council, I am writing in support of Option B, recommending lower parking rates overall. My husband and I moved from southern California in 1991, relocating to San Luis Obispo. We have enjoyed the benefits of a more rural environment in which to work and play and grow old together. Since the increase in parking rates within the downtown area of the city, in addition to the "radical" changes in gutters and sidewalks within the downtown corridor (which I hardly understand) I find it difficult to navigate through the city that I have come to love. When I come downtown to enjoy a restaurant or a movie, the city parking limit is 2 hours which is not enough. I either have to add more money before the recreation concludes or take the chance of getting a very expensive parking ticket. I tried the phone app but could not successfully navigate getting it set up and finding access to the area where I was parked. Your policies make it difficult for ALL residents to navigate the new systems. I can park farther out in the free areas and walk in, but then shopping is difficult, at my age it is a hardship to shop and carry everything around with me. And two hours at a meter is a problem if I'm shopping and want to stay for lunch or dinner in town. I am old enough to say I remember when. I enjoy the free days but would rather have lower parking rates all the time instead of a free day or hour here and there. Thank you for your time. Sincerely, Patty Gabrisch 1
