Use caution when deciding to open attachments, click links, or respond. Thank you for having the interest and taking the time to be on the committee and to read my email. It is apparent there has been a lot of work put in to the Higuera neighborhood greenway plans. The first plans were indeed ambitious. The 'revised' plans shown on pages 59-72 are still excessive. On Exposition / Woodbridge (pg. 60 & 61) there are three speed humps in the length of one block On Woodbridge West of Meadow (pg. 63) there is a another speed hump. Further East on Meadow, West of Lawton a speed hump, and two more speed humps East of Lawton. Three speed humps in two blocks. (pg. 64) There is a speed hump on King Ct. (pg. 65), a dead end street one block long. This will turn Corrida Dr. in to a speed way. The plan is poised to ruin a residential neighborhood for the residents of the neighborhood. Eliminate ALL Eight speed humps! Cyclists do not like humps. Drivers with groceries or bad backs hate humps. Imagine what the humps will do to parking on these residential streets. I understand an all way/4 way stop is proposed for Meadow St. and Woodbridge St. (pg.63) Terrific. That makes all the sense in the world!! Eliminate striped curb extensions I suggest making Woodbridge and Lawton an all way / 4 way stop intersection too. That will help make a a huge difference and contribute to more safety. (perhaps add stop signs on Meadow and Funston for more control near the parking lot entrance) 1 Back to Exposition on pg. 60 it is proposed to add a mid block cross walk, a solar path light, both seem like good ideas. It is also proposed to install a "floating curb extension" which should be eliminated. I have seen an example of a floating curb that is at best a trip and fall waiting to happen, a dangerous concoction that a path light will not mitigate. The two intersections of Corrida and Woodbridge are to have striped curb extensions. Painted stripes may be a good idea but to add 'tube cones' is at best a waste, and an obstruction to pedestrians. I am sorry to be so negative but as proposed this plan is far too much. The speed humps will ruin the neighborhood and make the residents angry. Some paint and a few well placed stop signs are more than enough to calmly add safety to the residential streets around Meadow Park. Thank you. Larry Pennington 2
