HomeMy WebLinkAbout5/14/2024 Item 4a, Boughton From:Nicole B < To:E-mail Council Website Subject:Parking Discussion for Parking Tech This message is from an External Source. Use caution when deciding to open attachments, click links, or respond. I am writing on behalf of my family of 12, who are tuning in the May 14th, meeting online. We would like to suggest that San Luis follow the parking benefits that Paso Robles has seen by not charging for downtown parking. To benefit senior citizens of which make up 13.9% of San Luis city population, and is also a small town. Realistically downtown businesses and the charm of our town which is decreasing. Large commercial spaces that have been empty for decades, while small family businesses being edged out of affordable rent and the increase of corporate retail that takes away from the San Luis attractiveness to tourists is all impacting how local business people and local consumers consider how to spend their disposable income. I would like to suggest, reinstalling coin-driven parking meters to make parking accessible for seniors who are not tech savvy, As San Luis is a retirement destination for many it would be more inclusive. It would allow short term parking, and quick stops retail stores. I would also like to suggest that you diversify the vision of your parking team/task force to be more forward thinking as the economy continues to dwindle and I would encourage you all to integrate the financial forecast to how many changes are being implemented in this currents team history of trial and error, which seems to be an expensive and frustrating way to learn and further alienate shoppers. Thank you for your time in reading our thoughts, Los Osos Family 1
