1. Please provide an executive summary of proposed project/program *
Direct housing aid to undocumented persons will be regranted to one or more local community-based-organizations that directly interface
with the undocumented population to provide direct housing aid in the form of rental assistance, security deposit, and/or utility payment to
avoid shut-off.
UndocuSupport’s Grants Committee will convene to disburse the funds which will be given to a local agency that provides services directly
to the undocumented immigrant community. UndocuSupport will manage the grant reporting.
2. Total Project Cost?*
$507,441.50
3. Requested Project Amount *
$7,441.50
4. Please provide a detailed description of proposed project/program *
UndocuSupport seeks to ensure access to financial support for undocumented and mixed status families and individuals in San Luis Obispo
City who are striving for self-sufficiency yet at high risk of falling into homelessness. Our project would regrant direct aid to local agencies
for the specific purpose of providing undocumented/mixed status households with direct housing aid such as security deposits for rental
units and utility payments to avoid shut off in order to keep people housed.
5. Describe the community/population the project/program will support.*
This program will benefit undocumented immigrants and mixed-status families who reside in the City of San Luis Obispo. These families
often live in severely overcrowded conditions - the recent SLO County Mexican Indigenous Enumeration study found that on average, there
were seven persons sharing two rooms. This population is generally not eligible for government housing assistance. They are also impeded
in finding rental locations due to language barriers, lack of credit history and/or Social Security Numbers, and other barriers. While most are
full-time workers and often working multiple jobs, members of these families struggle to make ends meet and to have enough funds to pay
for the high cost of housing, food, childcare and medical needs.
6. The HRC has identified homeless prevention including affordable and alternative housing, supportive services, and
transitional housing as the main funding priority. Does your grant request meet this funding priority?*
Yes
No
7. Which other priority of the non-ranked HRC funding priorities does your request support? Please check the appropriate
boxes:*
Hunger and malnutrition prevention
Supportive physical and mental health services for those in need
Services for seniors and/or people with disabilities in need
Supportive and developmental services for children and youth in need
Services encouraging diversity, equity, and inclusivity in marginalized communities
8. Provide timeline for project *

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Statement for the SLO City
Human Services Grant:
We are a collaboration of local organizations, community leaders, and
concerned individuals that came together in April 2020 during the early
stages of the COVID-19 pandemic with a common goal: to provide financial
support for local immigrant families, including undocumented and mixed
status immigrant families who were left out of federal pandemic relief
programs.
We proactively provide leadership in coalition-building to persuade policy
makers and decision-making to impact discussions and activities that
increase awareness of and support of immigrants and focus efforts to
elevate their voices, help immigrants become influential leaders
themselves, maximize and champion efforts of providers and change
agents, and provide awareness and education to the community at large.
This project will advance diversity, equity, and inclusion in the City of San
Luis Obispo by providing urgent and critical housing aid to undocumented
immigrant community members who are excluded from many resources
and disproportionately experience overcrowding, discrimination, and
renter’s rights violations. Direct housing aid will enable undocumented
and mixed status families to obtain housing or remain housed thereby
preventing them from becoming homeless in the critical affordable housing
shortage our community is currently facing.
