Description of work:
Installation of conduits began from the pull boxes on Lower Broad to approximately 15 feet short of the proposed City Communication Manhole on Monterey.
Catherine Johnson was present during excavations. An unmarked steel utility line, approximately 4-inch diameter, was exposed on the north side of the proposed City Communication Manhole.
SoCal Gas and our utilities department could not identify the line. The line is parallel to Monterey Street.
The trench, from the pull boxes to approximately 5 feet east of the City Comm. MH, was backfilled and compacted with import sand.
Sam Venable tested compaction of backfill material.
