To date, Rincon has provided 7 full days and 2 half days of archaeological monitoring. Today, Thursday 2/9/2023, the monitor was on site at 10:45 to monitor ground disturbance activities, which included continuing excavating the trench west on Broad Street. An approximately 7-inch live root was encountered around pothole 10, which required the City arborist to assess. The crew was informed they could cut this root as it was outside of the drip-line, but as they progress west towards the large ficus tree, they would have to stop the use of the excavator. Ground disturbance activities were stopped at 1:45 and the monitor left site. Plans for the following day, Friday 2/10/2023, include cutting the root and continuing the trench westwards. Thank you!
