Honorable Council Members:
We have the privilege of serving as co-chairs of SLO REP’s “New Stage” Capital Campaign. We are
passionate about SLO REP, and we serve with enthusiasm.
When the City first approached SLO REP a decade ago offering a parcel adjacent to the planned Cultural
Arts District Parking Structure for a new theater, we jumped in right away with a significant lead gift. As
delays occurred, followed by the pandemic and then soaring inflation, we doubled our gift.
Now the project is threatened by even more inflation. We are ready to contribute more, but we are
realists. The gap that SLO REP faces cannot be overcome solely by private donors, and so we ask you to
join us in contributing more to SLO REP’s project in order to achieve the City’s long-held vision of
establishing a thriving Cultural Arts District.
We are prepared to do more because we believe this project will make San Luis Obispo an even more
attractive community in which to live, work and play.
More than that, we are committed to this project because we want to give back to the City we love.
San Luis has been our home for more than 40 years. We raised our family here, we made our living
here, we are invested. We have prospered in this community, and we feel fortunate to be able to give
something truly significant to the place we love.
SLO REP has served San Luis Obispo for 78 years, and we have no doubt SLO REP will deliver even more
value to our community in a new state-of-the art theater, created by a true public-private partnership.
Please join us and allocate even more support to SLO REP.
Thank you for your consideration.
