On arrival E4 assumed Oceanaire IC and reported light smoke from Alpha side of structure and would be in an offensive mode. E4 Captain met RP in front of structure and stated the dryer was on fire on first level towards back of unit (Charlie side). The male also stated all occupants were evacuated from the structure. E4 FF pulled crosslay to front door and E4 Operator secured a water source from hydrant. E4 Captain completed 360 of unit and was able to get eyes on dryer towards back of unit. BC3 assumed Oceanaire IC, T1 was assigned Division Alpha and two out while E4 FF stretched line to seat of fire inside dryer and knocked the fire out. Calfire E21 secured utilities. E2 was assigned to evaluate Charlie side of structure. E4 Captain and FF checked for extension in surrounding area and appliances and no extension was present. A TIC was used and no heat signatures present in immediate area other than dryer itself. The fire appears to have started below the drum in the lower right front area of the dryer. The tennant just moved into unit 3 weeks prior and has no prior history or knowledge of the dryer. Gas turned off at valve, electrical cord disconnected for dryer, and dryer was removed to outside location. The radiant heat from dryer burned some of the paint on the washer that was adjacent to dryer. Washer was disconnected as well and removed to outside the structure. ... Minimal water was utilized to control the fire in the dryer and E4 used some towels of the tennant to dry the tile flooring. Gas Company was requested to restore the gas to the unit. T1 assisted with smoke removal and set up fan at front door entrance. Electricity was turned back on for the tennant while gas company arrived and restored gas to the unit.
