The question is listed below with staff’s response shown in italics: 1. How was the 20% number arrived at the "per door" rate on the new staff/faculty housing? The current rate is based on a per-capita cost for the student population and is broken down into on-campus and off-campus rates. As SLOFD looked at the on- campus staff housing rates, an accurate population count for the staff housing would likely be unavailable. Therefore, in lieu of a per-capita fee, a “per-door” fee was implemented for on-campus staff housing. Additionally, staff will reside in housing year-round. SLOFD determined that students are attending classes, and presumably living in the City, about 80% of the year (10 of 12 months), while the staff population would be residing on campus 100% of the year, hence the 20% increase in the per-door cost relative to the on-campus per-capita rate.
