Attached is my support of the Appeal to the Planning Commission 1 6/23/2024 Planning Commission City of San Luis Obispo 990 Palm Street, San Luis Obispo Re: Appeal of ARCH-0448-2022 1925 Santa Barbara – Mixed Use Development Dear Planning Commissioners, I would like to communicate my support of the Appeal to deny the approval of the mixed-use development proposed for 1925 Santa Barbara St. The size, height, and setbacks for this project add no value to the historic nature of this neighborhood. Allowing a three-story structure with minimal setbacks is not a reasonable use of this property, especially when it borders multiple historic homes to the west. In addition, following the initial review of the project the ability to park on Santa Barbara St in front of this project has been eliminated due to the addition of a new bike lane. A mixed-use development with a combination of commercial business and housing will certainly change the character of the adjacent properties and parking will be a challenge with the minimal onsite parking provided by the developer. I respectfully ask you to support the Appeal of the current plans for 1925 Santa Barbara St and reconsider something with a reduction in size, height, and increase the setbacks to a more reasonable transition zone from mixed- use to residential.
