Use caution when deciding to open attachments, click links, or respond. fees Good morning-- My family and I are owners of commercial and residential investment properties in the City of San Luis Obispo--particularly in the downtown area. I have read the new proposed fee schedule for making changes to existing properties. I am outraged that you would charge such exhortative fees to have city employees do the job they were hired to do, We already pay these employees to do their job and then we are asking the general public to pay for them again when going through the permit process. This is basically double taxation by the city of San Luis Obispo. Today property owners are taxed over and over by our city government in order to be able to operate within the city limits. Every single expense associated with property that is privately owned has gone up dramatically in the past few years. This does not take into consideration that builders are given permits for anything they want to build and adjoining owners are not even notified of the project. We currently have a downtown office building that is almost completely vacant because of all the construction going on around us. We were never notified that the project was going forward until the equipment arrived and demolition began. No one is compensating us for our loss of revenue but if we need to do any maintenance work on the property, you (the city) are going to charge us to repair the damage done to our property. Permit and user fees have gotten completely out of line with what needs to be done and how long it is going to take to get the project done. Please reconsider your proposed new fees and make adjustments so that the property owner doesn't get scammed again by the City of San Luis Obispo. Thank you, Rosalind M Hansen L J Morganti Co 1
