Use caution when deciding to open attachments, click links, or respond. Mayor and Council Members, Having attended the Mass Transportation Committee meeting of July 10, 2024, I received a copy of the SLO Transit SRTP-Working Paper and noted that many of the recommended changes were based on Cal Poly's Academic Year. So, my concerns are with the residents of San Luis Obispo and how these changes will affect this population. I've long agreed that smaller vehicles such as vans or smaller buses on routes with lower ridership be considered. However, I found that Routes 1A, 1B. 3A and 3B were being realigned even though there might be service on weekends. Eliminating four stops will cause hardship for the riders (especially older adults) in those areas. Should the 1A Broad @ Islay and 1B Broad @ Leff be eliminated, it would mean the following: 1A - one would either have to walk down to the Santa Barbara stop or up to the Chorro/Marsh stop in order to board. 1B - one would either have to walk down to the Funston stop or all the way to the Transit Center in order to board since the Nipomo at Higuera and Marsh at Broad stops are closed due to construction from Spring 2024 to Fall 2025. Then, again, we have the modified summer schedule to also consider which adds to the complication. Have you attempted to read the new 3A schedule? It is a little confusing. There are many good items in this Plan which I'd like to see implemented before too long. With Cal Poly changing Cal Poly hours, SLO Public Transit has its work cut out for 2026. And, so does the City Council. Respectfully submitted, Louise Justice, Resident of San Luis Obispo 1
