FOR MEMBER OF THE CITY COUNCIL
PAUL BROWNAge: 45
Occupation: Police Officer/ Small Businessman
ln this specialelection, we are replacing a valued member of our City Councilteam, Andrew Carter.
Former Mayor Dave Romero, Councilman Andrew Carter, Dr. Rene Bravo and other community leaders have endorsed
me because they believe I am uniquely qualified to serve without needing a "learning curve".
My four years on City Council gave me skills needed to communicate and advocate effectively with both city staff and
current Council Members.
I have committed my life to serving our community ever since I moved here in 1986 to attend Cal Poly. My experience
serving in the US Army, working with at-risk youth, and volunteering with numerous non-profit organizations helps me
understand the needs of our citizens.
As a downtown business owner, I learned to manage a budget and make difficult, but sound, fiscal decisions.
As a Police Officer, I understand the importance of public safety and how it touches every person, family, and business
in our community.
As your City Councilman, I can put my experience to work for you - spending tax dollars wisely and using common
sense.
lf you have a question for me, please call my cell phone (805) 550-1661

PARA MIEMBRO DEL CONCEJO MUNICIPAL
PAUL BROWNEdad: 45

FOR MEMBER OF THE CITY COUNCIL
JOHN A. SPATAFORE
Occupation: Attorney at Law
I am running for City Council because of my commitment to San Luis Obispo, the city my wife and lhave called
home for 34 years, where we raised our children and run a successful law practice.
San Luis Obispo needs leaders who can manage taxpayers' dollars efficiently, nurture a vibrant business climate
and deliver vital neighborhood services. lcan provide that leadership.
I have been a driving force in several of San Luis Obispo's most significant developments, including creation of
the Performing Arts Center and the Damon-Garcia Sports Fields. Elected to the San Luis Coastal School Board in
2006, I served as president and led the board through numerous challenges to ensure that we improved educational
quality and balanced a $70 million budget.
A healthy business climate is essential. That's why I have served on the SLO Chamber Board, and that's also why
I co-chaired 2010's No on Measure H Committee, a position the community overuvhelmingly approved and was
effectively an endorsement for additional middle-class housing, parks and open space.
I love this city. lt would be a privilege to serue you on city council. I respectfully ask for your vote.

Occupation: Firefighter
I will represent every citizen. Call my personal cell phone at (805) 602-2616 before or after the election. Every citizen
deserves a voice in government. Bring me an issue and I will take it to City Hall.
I AM EXPERIENCED AND READY. I have attended council meetings in SLO and every city in the county for years. I

TOGETHER, WE CAN... achieve a city council that responds to you and directs staff (not the other way around). This
is YOUR council! We can achieve fiscal prudence and expand local head of household jobs.
I will protect every resident's rights to quiet, safe, attractive neighborhoods, and the views and serenity we love.
I have lived in and loved San Luis Obispo for twenty years. I attended Cuesta College and Cal Poly in the field of
computer science. ln 1996, I was offered my dream job as a firefighter.
I will bring accountability, common sense, public participation and transparency to City Hall. I am your voice.
