Adam,
This may be a duplicate. I'm uncertain that it was "sent" so I'm pushing the button just
in case memory has failed.

Adam,
Thank you for your reply.
First let me say that by no means do I intend to demean you or your work. You have
clearly put in a lot of work and I appreciate your replies to questions and feedback.
You said, “given there’s been concern by neighbors for illegal speeding in the area speed
bumps were seen as the least disruptive countermeasure”.
There is abundant illegal speeding on Broad St. and on South St. and on Hwy
101. Should we be looking for speed “humps” on those streets also?
It is said speed bumps are seen as the least disruptive. You told me the humps planned
for Exposition and Woodbridge are the same as the bumps I asked about on
Buchon. The bumps on Buchon are very aggressive, very disruptive, yet six of those
‘humps’ are proposed for our neighborhood. Note also the disruption to parking and of
construction.
I have lived on Corrida for 26+ years. We may have a few drivers that fudge on the 25
mph on occasion. It is rare if we even have encounters with cars and pedestrians.
The main speeding problem is on Meadow St. both going up and down the hill. Meadow
St. is where one encounters the vast majority of pedestrians. I understand the plan is
to make Woodbridge and Meadow a four-way stop. I applaud that. I also applaud
painting some pedestrian crossings there.
You would do well to make Woodbridge and Lawton a four-way stop and painted xing
also.
Paint a ped xing across Meadow at Funston.

Painting the crossings is a fine idea. However, if you look at the angles of the
connecting intersections of Corrida I would point out the difficulty in making a turn into
Corrida if there is another vehicle stopped and yielding with the proposed curb extending
‘tube cones’. I also suggest the permanently mounted posts are an obstacle to the
pedestrians. Paint only!
In answer to your question are there other countermeasures I would find
preferable: Yes, go down to the Corp yard, grab four stop signs and some paint and call
it good. Move on to the next neighborhood.
Thank you.

Hello Lawrence,
Thanks for letting us know your thoughts. Given that there’s been concern by neighbors for illegal speeding in
the area, speed humps were seen as the least disruptive countermeasure. Previous proposals for traffic circles
were seen as too heavy handed by many neighbors thus the speed bumps compromise. Are there other
countermeasures that you find more preferable?
There will definitely be more opportunities for public input. At this time a study session with the City Council is
slated for early February. The best way to stay informed is to sign up for email updates specifically for this
project at this link: https://www.slocity.org/government/department-directory/public-works/programs-and-

Adam,
Thank you for your reply and clearing the confusion.
I might as well let you know I am not in the least bit supportive of speed humps in our neighborhood.
There are ample problems with the plans and I hope there are opportunities to address the planning commission before
finalizing.
Thank you,

Hello Larry,
At the time they were installed on Buchon they were called “bumps” but they are the same thing that would be
installed in the Meadow Park neighborhood although with the name change to “humps” to reduce public
confusion. Hope this helps.

Good afternoon,
I have been calling and writing Ryan with my questions about the
Meadow Park neighborhood plans. This morning I got an automatic reply
that he is no longer employed with the department. You are now the lucky
recipient.
I recently drove over the speed bumps on Buchon between Johnson and
Santa Rosa.
Are they 'Bumps' or 'Humps' and how do they compare with what is
proposed for our Meadow Park neighborhood?
Thank you.
