We would like to particularly thank you for two signiflcant items on tonight’s agenda: the increase in the sewer lateral rebate to $4,000 and the issuance of an RFP for the City’s Below Market Rate (BMR) housing administrator. The decision to increase the sewer lateral rebate and expand eligibility comes at a crucial time. As you are aware, infiationary impacts have signiflcantly raised the cost of sewer lateral replacements. By increasing the rebate incentive, the City is not only making these essential upgrades more accessible to homeowners but also proactively addressing the potential environmental and public health impacts associated with sanitary sewer overfiows (SSOs). Additionally, we commend the Council for advancing the City’s affordable housing initiatives by seeking a new administrator for the BMR housing program. Since the adoption of the Inclusionary Housing Ordinance in 1999, the City has made tremendous strides in ensuring that new housing units are accessible to income-eligible households, including those categorized as extremely low, very low, low, and moderate income. The growth of the City’s BMR portfolio over the years has provided vital opportunities for residents who might otherwise be priced out of the housing market. We appreciate your leadership in addressing these critical issues and look forward to continuing our partnership with the City Council to support initiatives that beneflt our residents and enhance the livability of San Luis Obispo. Sincerely, Jocelyn Brennan Government Affairs Director San Luis Coastal Association of REALTORS®
