Dear City Council and Mayor,
I live on Woodbridge St. with my family near the proposed new cannabis retail store (2400 Broad St.; Embarc
SLO) and am concerned about traffic safety at the intersection of Broad and Woodbridge. The newly installed
HAWK signal has proven to be an excellent tool for pedestrians and bicyclists using the greenway to be able to
cross Broad St. more safely. However, there is significant confusion by drivers using Woodbridge St. During a
crossing event, the drivers on Woodbridge St are given a “No Turn” signal which is either not understood or
simply ignored, causing an unsafe condition for pedestrians and bicycles trying to use the crossing. This new
retail storefront will greatly increase traffic and thereby exacerbate the confusing HAWK signal particularly on
Woodbridge as customers enter and leave. Before approving this new use permit, please protect our greenway
by reducing traffic on Woodbridge and addressing the shortcomings of the HAWK signal to keep us safe.
Kindly,
Rose Levinson-Woertz
679 Woodbridge St.
