Dear Commissioners,
I’m writing to express my support for the approval of Embarc San Luis Obispo’s Conditional Use Permit at
2410 Broad St.
As a neighbor to this location, a parent of a teen, an active community member and the prior CEO of the SLO
Chamber of Commerce, I am encouraged by Embarc's commitment to build trust and engage well beyond the
basic minimum required for business compliance. For this reason, I have agreed to serve on Embarc's
Community Advisory Board.
At 2410 Broad St., Embarc plans to implement a compliant, well-designed storefront that will enhance the area,
providing a secure and welcoming environment for customers and residents alike.
Each of us serving on Embarc’s Community Advisory Board are deeply embedded in the fabric of our
community. As a Board member, we are responsible for holding Embarc accountable to prioritizing local hires
and enhancing the character of the Broad Street corridor. We are also hopeful that once Embarc begins
operating, they will begin distributing resources back into SLO where it is needed most by supporting local
nonprofits, as they have in other communities where they operate.
Embarc SLO has earned the trust of many local leaders and that of the city's merit-based cannabis retail
licensing evaluation team. I encourage you to move forward and grant them a conditional use permit to begin
operations.
Thank you for your service.
Ermina Karim
