Regarding Public comment for item 4.B REVIEW OF A CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT (USE-0266-2024) FOR A NEW 2480 SQUARE-FOOT COMMERCIAL CANNABIS RETAIL STOREFRONT LOCATED AT 2400 BROAD STREET, IN THE RETAIL COMMERCIAL (C-R-SF) ZONE WITH SPECIAL FOCUS OVERLAY. Esteemed Commissioners, My name is Michael Specchierla, and I am the Executive Director of the San Luis Obispo County Office of Education. As someone who has dedicated my career to supporting education in San Luis Obispo, I have seen the critical role that community partners play in enhancing youth programs and resources. I support Embarc San Luis Obispo’s Conditional Use Permit application at 2410 Broad St., My observations of Embarc is that the organization supports accountability and community investment. I have participated in Embarc’s Community Advisory Board and understand that Embarc will direct thousands of dollars of funding back to the causes that matter to SLO residents, all at the direction of this group of local leaders. In other communities, Embarc’s Community Advisory Boards have donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to causes and organizations that keep young people away from drugs and provide positive opportunities. As an educator, I believe this is a powerful commitment from a business. I have observed Embarc’s commitment to community engagement and responsible business practices. Their approach to storefront design and operations emphasizes compliance with local regulations, security, and integration into the community fabric, ensuring they will operate harmoniously with the surrounding area. Best regards, Michael Specchierla, Executive Director SLOCOE SLO Partners 805.782.7273 Connect www.slocoe.org www.slopartners.org 1 Discover the impact of SLO Partners: empowering 400+ local residents through training for dynamic careers, generating an $8.6M boost to our community's economy.
