4.B REVIEW OF A CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT (USE-0266-2024) FOR A NEW 2480 SQUARE-FOOT
COMMERCIAL CANNABIS RETAIL STOREFRONT LOCATED AT 2400 BROAD STREET, IN THE RETAIL
COMMERCIAL (C-R-SF) ZONE WITH SPECIAL FOCUS OVERLAY.
Dear Commissioners,
As someone who has built a career around strategic communication and community engagement, I can say with
confidence that Embarc San Luis Obispo stands out as a business that truly understands how to integrate itself
responsibly into a community. I am writing to express my full support for their Conditional Use Permit at 2410
Broad St.
I’ve worked around the country to take brands and elevate them into stories that show their local connections and
highlight their unique strengths. What makes Embarc unique is their approach to community accountability,
particularly through the creation of their Community Advisory Board (CAB). This is not just a symbolic gesture—it's
a meaningful commitment to ensuring that local voices guide the direction of their operations. The CAB is made up
of respected community leaders who are dedicated to holding Embarc accountable to the commitments they’ve
made, ensuring that the benefits of their presence are felt throughout San Luis Obispo.
Throughout my career, I’ve worked with many businesses, and I take great pride with those who demonstrate
transparency and community engagement as a core value. Embarc's CAB model ensures that the economic,
social, and cultural benefits they’ve promised are directed by leaders who know and love this community. They’ve
done the hard work to build trust with those who were initially uncertain about cannabis, and their dedication to
accountability makes them a responsible partner for San Luis Obispo.
Embarc’s presence on Broad Street will not only bring economic growth but will also contribute to the long-term
well-being of San Luis Obispo. I strongly urge you to grant them the Conditional Use Permit so that they can begin
delivering on the promises they’ve made to the community.
Sincerely,
Stacie Jacob
