Review of the DEI High Impact Grant Mid-Year Reports

Recommendation:
Commissioners to provide a brief review and update of the 2023-24 DEI High Impact
Grant Mid-Year Reports for each assigned grantee.

Review of the DEI SLO Business Grant Year-End Reports

Recommendation:
The Human Relations Commission (HRC) to review the 2023-24 DEI SLO Business
Grant year-end reports and provide staff with any updates as part of their respective
liaison assignment roles.

Public Comment
Human Services Grant (HSG) Community Needs Grant
Workshop

Recommendation:
Staff recommends that the Human Relations Commission (HRC) holds the Human
Services Grant (HSG) Community Needs Grant Workshop with a focus on alignment
between community needs and grant funding priorities.
Funding Priorities
For the 2025-26 Fiscal Year, the main funding priority is:
Homelessness prevention including affordable, alternative, transitional housing, and supportive services.
The following secondary funding priority areas are not listed in order of importance and may not receive funding:
•Hunger and malnutrition prevention
•Supportive physical and mental health services for those in need
•Services for seniors, veterans, and/or people with disabilities in need
•Supportive, developmental, and care services for children and youth in need
•Services encouraging diversity, equity, and inclusivity in marginalized communities, including access to language
services.

Public Comment
•Starting July 8, 2024, one (1) hour parking vouchers are provided to Commissioners and meeting
attendees.
•DEI High Impact Grant Applications opened July 22, 2024 and closed August 31, 2024.
•A total of 30 applications were received with 29 eligible applications for review. A total of $642,995 is
being requested.
•The DEI Administrative Specialist job posting experienced a delay since another position posting took a
priority, which lead programs/offices related to a Major City Goal.
•A meeting with the CDCR CCRU took place July 30, 2024. A follow up email was sent by the rep and we
are still coordinating a meeting between ad-hoc subcommittee members.
•You have all received an email from Chelsea Ruiz regarding the upcoming Film Screening regarding
UndocuSupport DEI HIG Project. This will Saturday, September 28th from 4pm – 6pm at the Palm
Theatre.
The next Regular Meeting of the
Human Relations Commission is
scheduled for Wednesday, October 2,
2024, at 5:00 p.m. in-person in the
Council Hearing room.
