Subject:City of San Luis Obispo Economic Development Strategic Plan Update
Dear Ms.Cano:
The ongoing development of a dynamic and resilient economy in the City of San Luis Obispo has a direct impact on
the wider Central Coast economy.REACH appreciates the continued collaboration with the City as it implements
the EDSP and builds upon regional efforts as a partner in advancing the City’s economic vision.
REACH is grateful for the long-standing partnership with the City of San Luis Obispo to promote a thriving Central
Coast economy.Through the Economic Development Practitioner Network and REACH Council, the City has been a
leader in regional efforts to attract jobs and investment. In alignment with the EDSP strategies, this network has
been developing tools and resources to quickly respond to businesses interested in locating on the Central Coast
and also help to anchor businesses that graduate from the CIE programs and other incubator programs into the
community. The City has also served as a key member of the strategy committee to develop and now implement a
2-county comprehensive economic development strategy for San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara Counties, which
the work of the EDSP has integrated with.
The EDSP reflects further opportunity for the City of San Luis Obispo to build a dynamic and resilient economy
grounded on sustainability and equity, including through expansion of partnerships with organizations across the
region and advancing regional promotion efforts to showcase the City and region as a destination for investment
and entrepreneurship. We are excited by the ongoing progress by the City to advance the EDSP and look forward
to continuing to collaborate in promoting a thriving Central Coast economy.
Sincerely,
Melissa James
