This is a residential neighborhood. There needs to be many conditions to this permit in order to protect the permanent residents ALREADY living in that area. RQN has sent you a detailed list of the conditions that should be added & enforced. Quality of life is very important for those residents living in that area. Noise, either from loud music, screaming students or boisterous conversations in the middle of the night are NOT conducive to a healthy life. No one is naive enough to think that a Fraternity House is a quiet abode! Cal Poly should have a Fraternity Row for the Frat houses but that is another issue! In the meantime, please don’t make a residential neighborhood sacrifice their peaceful existence to cater to the fraternity’s requests to not have to abide by already established City ordinances. Those ordinances were established for a reason! They should not be changed on a whim. If Lambda Chi Alpha wants their Fraternity house to be at that location, then they should have to abide by the ordinances that every other citizen respects! Please deny this use permit unless the conditions that RQN put forth are established. Neighborhood wellness is still at the heart of all SLO residents. Help us protect that!
