From -Brian and Kristina Tuohy
Subject – Proposed Waterman Village Project
We would like to share our thoughts regarding the proposed
“Tiny Homes “ project that your committee will be
discussing at your November 18 th.Meeting . We understand
that San Luis Obispo needs additional low income housing
but this project , as proposed , would create too large a
footprint on this historic half acre site. Since these buildings
would need to be elevated a minimum of three feet, they will
simply dwarf the existing Adobe building. The rural feel of
the property with it close access to the creek behind it,
would be lost. Because of the density of the structures the
Adobe building will not be a focal part of this property but
may end up as simply a storage building for the residents.
This Adobe and its tree lined property was meant as a gift to
the City of San Luis Obispo, to preserve part of our history.
The most valuable part of this gift is the Adobe building. It
needs to be repaired and preserved for future generations.
This project needs to be scaled back to no more than ten
housing units with planned on site parking for the tenants . In
addition, any public monies contributed to this project
should first be directed to the repair and rehabilitation of the
historic Adobe building.
