I will not be in town on that date so am writing this letter in the hope it can be added to the record of public comments and taken into account when deciding about the disposition of the property at 1405 Garden Street. I am the property owner and occupant of 1430 Garden Street which also encompasses the neighboring cottage at 1422 Garden Street. I would happily see the property at 1405 Garden Street improved. However, there are some requirements I am hoping you will consider placing on the owner and developers of the 1405 Property. They are: - That the building not exceed two stories. The proposal is for three stories, but that is not in character with the other dwellings on the street. - Character of design will be consistent with the neighborhood and an improvement on its current design and appearance. - That the type of commercial tenants will continue to be office workers and not become retail establishments that sell alcohol, create noise, have late hours or attract raucous or wandering people to the neighborhood. - That there be two off-street parking spots for each unit of occupancy both residential and commercial. It is difficult for those of us who live here, and our guests, to find street parking currently and adding denser occupancy and activity to that site would worsen that situation. - That we, as residents on Garden Street be informed of construction dates and times, that construction not take place over the week-end, or after business hours during the week, and that any impact on the quality of life for the residents of this block be duly considered in such a way that we are not overly impacted.
