We are very grateful for your progress on the Broad Street Area Plan and hope that you will keep the plan as a
top priority for SLO. This must be part of your major budget goals in the next two yeas. It is important that the
Quick Builds are implemented in the budget because traffic safety is important for everyone - drivers and
pedestrians as well.
The Broad Street corridor must be calmed. Traffic moves much too quickly and in times of heavy traffic it is
impossible to make left turns from Broad Street businesses and from cross streets. It is implausible that drivers
are only safe when making a right turn, then proceeding to an opportunity for a U-turn or a cross street with a
traffic signal. This should not be impossible to remedy and yet, the problem has persisted for a long while.
