Hello, Thank you for considering the proposed changes to the project areas, they will be very helpful in addressing road user safety and community concerns. As a general note or comment for the changes on Sacramento Dr, would a floating parking lane be feasible on the southbound side of the road instead of the proposed configuration which puts the bike lane in a door strike zone? This street can be busy with parking maneuvers and a floating parking lane would help to reduce conflicts with southbound cyclists. I also have two specific comments on Sheet S06 of the preliminary designs: Where the westbound Tank Farm stop lines have been pushed back at the intersection with Broad, could solid green paint be added to the area in between the new stop position and existing crosswalk to alert drivers to keep the area clear? This was done at Monterey and Santa Rosa which used to have the issue of drivers going past the new stop line location and has helped keep the bike box clear at that location. Another example would be where westbound Tank Farm intersects with S. Higuera. Please see attached example. My other comment is regarding the lane reconfiguration on Tank Farm where it intersects Broad. Changing the right turn only lane into a through and turn lane is a great change, but would it be possible to continue the bike buffer right down to the actual intersection? There is a big issue of drivers riding in these types of areas and they will completely block the bike lanes when they do it, it happens all time at this exact intersection but in the NB Broad bike lane. Drivers are already gaining a forward lane here and are keeping their existing turning ability. Extending the buffer to the intersection would be a huge bonus for safety. Please see attached example of how turning vehicles queue in bike lanes when there is insufficient buffer. 1 2 Thank you again and please reach out if I can clarify any of my comments, Nicholas Burgnon
