Hello and thank you for the opportunity to provide input on the agenda items for this meeting.
Regarding item 4a – the Repaving Project for Tank Farm Road, I agree that repaving and restriping is
overdue and necessary.
However, I oppose the below potential e?orts within this project.
Potential to convert roadway from four auto lanes to two auto lanes (plus a center median/turn
lane) on Tank Farm from Poinsettia to Righetti Ranch Road to reduce illegal speeding and improve
safety for pedestrians and cyclists.
Addition of green bike lane conflict markings at intersections and high-traffic driveways.
Addition of protected bicycle lanes with flexible bollards separating bicyclists from motor vehicle
traffic where roadway width allows between Broad Street and Orcutt Road.
I have lived in this area for 8 years and drive this road daily. There is not a speeding problem. There was
one fatal accident in the last 8 years, which was tragic, but given the volume of tra?ic, clearly an outlier
statistically. I don’t believe this part of the project is a responsible spend of taxpayer funds. I would
suggest that we not spend money to fix a problem that does not exist. Tra?ic is increasing in this area
with increased housing builds, and to make Tank Farm lane be one lane each way instead of two will
simply make tra?ic worse. Our projects should improve tra?ic, not make it worse.
Please consider the input of local residents that live in this area because I have yet to find one that
supports the above.
Thank you.
