Re: Dec. 11, 2024 Planning Commission Meeting Item 4.a 466 Dana St. (The Waterman Village) Dear Chair Cooley and Commissioners Flores, Houghton, Jorgensen, Khan,Munoz-Morris and Tolle, I am writing in support of Item 4.a on the December 11 meeting agenda and respectfully request the Planning Commision to approve the proposed Waterman Village, located at 466 Dana Street in San Luis Obispo. As a past resident of the city of San Luis Obispo and current resident of Pismo Beach I know that a?ordable housing is a critical issue on the Central Coast. We have an extreme deficit of housing choices for younger people, singles and older persons who struggle to a?ord to live in our beautiful community. Waterman Village is a creative and thoughtfully designed project that provides below market rate housing and its central location is perfect for those who work downtown town or might not own or have access to a car, as many services are located nearby. The cost of building has increased dramatically in the last few years. My husband and I are self-employed as a local general contractor and we are aware how important good design and e?iciency are in keeping costs down. Waterman Village is an opportunity to develop new housing that is space e?icient, energy e?icient, sustainable, and practical. And the added benefit of renovating and potentially using the historic Rosa Butron de Canet Adobe as an o?ice space and/or community space is an opportunity that should not be passed by. Sincerely, Terri Main Pismo Beach 1
