Hello, esteemed city council members!
I had hoped to speak in person tomorrow, but I will be out of town so am writing briefly with a couple
additional notes regarding WRAC and SLOCOG/RTA.
WRAC, County Water Resources Advisory Committee: The committee meets about 8 times per year.
They are off July, August and January and usually one or two more as well, depending on topics requiring
consideration. Meetings are typically 1:30 - 3:00, but allow two hours, just in case. It is a large committee
- over 35 members, including liaisons from every city, each county district, CSD's etc. Identifying and
recommending water conservation policy is an opportunity within that body as well as weighing in on
regional water sources.
SLOCOG/RTA - One or the other or both meet every month starting 9:00, generally 1st Wednesdays. They
often finish by 10:30 or 11 but occasionally go until noon, especially SLOCOG, so allow enough time in
your schedule. Also, I had a standing meeting with city transportation staff for about 30 minutes a day or
two before every meeting to get their perspective on key items. Very helpful as there are many technical
aspects to the agenda items. Within SLOCOG are options, but not requirements, to serve as a liaison to
broader committees, including Coast Rail Coordinating Council (CRCC) and LOSSAN.
That's what I wanted to add to the information already provided. Best wishes for a great conversation
tomorrow!
Andy
