The questions are below with staff’s response shown in italics: 1) Is more money needed for the purchase of the six new battery electric buses? No, the purchase of six battery electric buses was approved by Council in July 2023 using a combination of federal, state, and Transit Fund dollars. Item 6d includes recommended actions to replace previously appropriated Transit Fund dollars with SB 125 funds. SB 125 fund allowable uses are more restricted than Transit Fund dollars, so replacing Transit Fund dollars with SB 125 funds allows the City to potentially use Transit Fund dollars for other operating and/or capital expenses. 2) How many battery electric buses does SLO Transit have now and how many are on order? SLO Transit currently has two battery electric buses in operation. There is a total of eight battery electric buses on order: six under one purchase order and another two under a separate purchase order. Including the buses already in service, SLO Transit will have a total of 10 electric buses.
