Subject:Please include La Loma Adobe in the next city budget

My name is Kathryn Somoza from Flagstaff, AZ. I've been coming to the Central Coast my entire long life
to visit family and locations dear to my heart.
I descend from Chona Boronda and Olivier Deleissegues and, thus, have many relatives in the county.
The last time I drove by La Loma Adobe, it was completely overgrown and barely able to be seen.
Recently I discovered the efforts of the Friends of La Loma and on this trip was delighted to find this
appealing adobe very visible and the Norma Frey Garden absolutely lovely.
Everyone can now see the real potential of a unique adobe that can be rehabilitated into an authentic
historic cultural and educational center. As a retired teacher, I see the impact it can immediately have
because the property conveniently borders a school already. It seems that buses bringing children from
other schools could park at the high school to lessen the impact of that sort of traffic on a residential
street.
Yes, funds are tight these days but efforts to save and expand our history are so important and
worthwhile. The La Loma Adobe offers the community unique opportunities to bring together local
citizens (especially students) and visitors to SLO county. I do hope I live long enough to see this happen!
Please include the La Loma Adobe restoration in the City Budget.
Thank you!
Kathryn Somoza
