Use caution when deciding to open attachments, click links, or respond. Mayor Stewart and council members, I have lived on Corrida Dr for 27 years. I attest that the Meadow Park neighborhood is quiet and calm, an area where bicyclists and pedestrians are quite safe. There is an hour or two when people are leaving for work or coming home that gets a little busy. I will be referring to pages 60-64 of the ‘refined’ Higuera Complete Streets Plan that has very wisely (and thankfully) eliminated traffic circles. Some speed bumps were also eliminated. It is still an overly ambitious plan for the neighborhood. All additional speed bumps on Exposition Dr and Woodbridge St (pgs. 60, 61, 63, & 64) should be eliminated. Speed bumps were suggested because there was some concern about ‘illegal speeding.’ (There may be a few who push past 25 mph) If speeding is the justification for these speed bumps then we need to install bumps on Broad St and South St also, ad infinitum. Bumps will aggravate some drivers to speed faster and more aggressively on the streets without bumps. Bicyclists do not like speed bumps. It is proposed on pg. 60 to add ‘floating curb extensions’. This idea is completely unnecessary. From photos and examples of floating curb extensions I have seen they do not appear easy to navigate on a bicycle and they look like trip and fall hazards as 1 well. A painted crossing with some warning signs for drivers is sufficient. The plan calls for several painted curb extensions with flexible delineator posts. Posts and ‘vertical hardening’ are unnecessary, they are obstacles to pedestrians and should be eliminated. Painted pedestrian crossings and bright yellow warning signs posted at some intersections will alert drivers and make them more cautious. I suggest it is a very good idea to add a painted pedestrian crossing and warning signs to the intersection of Meadow St and Funston Ave, probably a good idea at Meadow St and Lawton Ave as well. I’ve been told we cannot make Lawton and Woodbridge a four way stop though it is a good idea. Perhaps switch the stop signs from Lawton to Woodbridge as was done at Pismo to Nipomo St. Yes, yes, a thousand times yes to the 4-way stop at the intersection of Meadow St and Woodbridge St. on page 63. Meadow St. is the trouble spot of the neighborhood. Include simple painted crossings and signs at that intersection also. Thank you. Lawrence Pennington Landk_p@yahoo.com 805 546 0880 2
