Dear Mayor Stewart and council members,
As a 25-year resident and bicycle commuter with kids, and energy/environment Cal Poly professor, I
recognize the needs to change the way we use energy as well as protect our people. Please support Safe
Streets as described in the forwarded Email.
I appreciate your efforts. Let me know if there’s anything I can do to promote these changes.
Thank you
Pete

Subject: Urgent: Support the Higuera Complete Street Project at City Council Tomorrow!
Dear Safe Streets Supporters,
The Higuera Complete Street Project is heading to City Council this Tuesday, February 4th, and we need
your support to ensure it prioritizes safety and accessibility for everyone—not just those in cars.
This project is a huge step toward making Higuera safer for people walking, biking, and driving. However,
we need the Council to approve key safety features that will make a real difference, including:
??? Keeping the Road Diet – Reducing excessive lanes to calm traffic and improve safety.
??? Stronger Protected Bike Lanes – Adding more durable barriers, such as concrete curb stops, to
separate bikes from cars.
1
??? Safer Intersections at Madonna & Los Osos Valley Road – Reconfiguring these intersections to
accommodate all modes of transportation, not just vehicle throughput.
How You Can Help
1⃣ Write a Letter of Support – A short, personal email urging Council to prioritize these safety features by
this afternoon or early tomorrow makes a big impact. Send your email to emailcouncil@slocity.org
2⃣ Show Up & Speak Out – If you can, attend the City Council meeting in person on Tuesday, February
4th to voice your support. Public comments can make a real difference!
Agenda Item 7a
Your voice matters. Together, we can make Higuera a safer, more accessible corridor for all.
Thank you for your support!
