Dear City council members
I am completely against your "South Higuera street complete project" as witnessing the bike protective
lanes that you built on Santa Barbara st, Marsh st, upper Higuera st, Monterey st, Johnson ave, Laurel
Lane, North Choreo, Ramona st, Pismo st are examples that have little but to zero bicyclist on those
streets. Eyewitnessing by driving these roads every week and I sit here asking where are the bicyclists?
You're doing all this removal of roads all over town and there's been no increase in bicyclists and the
money you're spending by doing this, you are breaking things that aren't broken because we have have
bike lanes on South Higuera already on both sides.
You are hurting this town completely with these radical ideas of thinking that alternative transportation
well what about alternative income, alternative routes to get around these bike lame roads; should we be
forced to drive 101 highway now. You are affecting the lives of businesses, the daily commutes of drivers
that is causing them to lose money. For example your causing delivery carrier companies to increase
their delivery rates such as UPS, FedEx, DHL as they factor in the delays of these roads and they
calculate the cost nationwide. So for every parking spot you reduce, for every sidewalk you widen, for
every road you take out and replace with these bike lanes you are actually costing more money for
deliveries and you're delaying more people everyday by these decisions that are doing no good and
besides they are not increasing bicyclists to ride them. All these roads that you created with these
protective bike lanes, they was already bike lanes on all these streets for example. You just had to tear
them up and make the protective barriers but those protective barriers are creating nothing but a
heartache on everybody in this town. This is just too much as I can't believe that you're going to go and do
the same thing with South Higuera street next.
Please stop this disaster on these bike lanes. Vote no and I realize you're more likely going to vote to push
this measure and force us to suffer. This is the reason why San Luis Obispo needs voting districts again
because we have no representation here. The poplar vote is killing our town and the result we are getting
these unnecessary bike lanes everywhere.
I'm asking you to vote NO, please vote NO on this measure on Higuera street complete project.
Sincerely
Scott Marcotte
