Use caution when deciding to open attachments, click links, or respond. I am writing to encourage your support in developing the South Higuera bike lane. As development continues in this area, expanding bike connectivity through the heavily trafficked streets provides a safer route to schools for students in new neighborhoods, improved walking conditions for pedestrians traveling to the Public Market or grocery stores, and supports the SLO County initiative to link the Bob Jones trail. I encourage those who oppose bike lanes to spend an afternoon at the revitalized intersection of Orcutt and Duncan (near Broad) to witness how this infrastructure serves the community. Dozens of runners from the surrounding developments there use the new cycling paths as a meeting point for community jogs, students commute home from school in them and friends travel on bikes, scooters, one-wheels and on foot to meet up at the new brewery, wineries and coffee shops there. An industrial patch of town near the train tracks is now a thriving hub. If cars don't want to slow down a bit, share the road and allow for this type of transformation, then the 101 freeway one block away offers a high-speed, car-only alternative route. With thanks for your consideration, Jenny Horstman-Chase 1
