Use caution when deciding to open attachments, click links, or respond. Dear City Council, Please do not install anymore bike lanes where they take up driving space! The installation must be extremely costly, and they make driving more unsafe! I see very few bike riders use these lanes anyway, and they take up so much room making driving even more congested. Also, for drivers of cars they make intersections even more unsafe since they add more areas to have to look and check... Especially the one from Southbound LOVR turning into Costco and also the intersection coming out of Laguna Lake Park onto Madonna. I am a very careful driver, but the added distance from the curb means more areas for drivers to have to visually check before turning. I also have a bicycle-club friend that also says these bike lanes make her rides less safe and other bike club members agree. These bike riders have almost been hit several times as they crossed in front of intersections and driveways. In my neighborhood, the new cement bike lanes take up residential parking. Whose idea were these cement bike lanes? Why didn't we get to vote? The places bike lanes are needed are on Buckley and Tank Farm Roads. Why isn't money spent there to widen the shoulders for bike lanes and make those areas more safe for both drivers and bike riders? Thanks for your consideration. Maija Beaudoin 1
