Regarding Proposed Bus Route Change to Pepper/Phillips Lane February 18, 2025 Dear City Council, I cannot believe we are here again, wasting time on a proposal that makes absolutely no sense. Who thought it was a good idea to put another bus stop in a neighborhood that is already surrounded by them? There are already two bus stops within two blocks! What’s next? Installing an escalator down Pepper Street because people can’t walk two blocks to the main road? This isn’t about accessibility. It’s about common sense. People who take public transit already expect to walk some distance to a stop. It’s part of the deal. The city’s idea that adding a stop in this tiny, narrow neighborhood will somehow boost ridership is delusional. You don’t increase ridership by clogging up an already difficult-to- navigate street, you increase ridership by improving efficiency and reliability—which, by the way, this plan does neither. What this will do is make it more dangerous for all of us. This street wasn’t built for heavy bus traffic, and it’s beyond frustrating that we have to explain this over and over again. The city already took away a ton of parking when they put in the bridge, and now you want to take more? For what? An unnecessary stop? I urge you to reconsider this nonsense before you force us all to waste more of our time fighting a plan that should have never made it this far. Sincerely, Kimber Miller Phillips Lane Resident 1
