In accordance with that policy and schedule, certain records have been identified as
eligible for destruction. A listing of those records and relevant sections from the records

Requesting approval to destroy sexual offender registrant files for deceased registrants.
Detective Dunn has confirmed death through the California Sex and Arson Registry
(CSAR) system. Confirmation with representatives at Department of Justice advise that
there is no specific statute for local agency retention after death. Penal Code 290.08
states "Every district attorney's office and the Department of Justice shall retain records
relating to a person convicted of an offense for which registration is required pursuant to
Section 290 for a period of 75 years after disposition of the case."
